Excel Spreadsheet Course Available to the Visually Impaired
Posted November 8th, 2006by Jenann Elias
The Hadley School for the Blind has introduced a new course to help visually impaired students learn to use Microsoft Excel. Excel is a spreadsheet program frequently used in business, but useful in every day life as well.
“This course shows how simple it can be to use a spreadsheet.” said Amy Salmon, instructor for the course.
The spreadsheet course is available in Braille as well as large print, and because it is a free online course, students can learn the information in their own homes. The course is suitable for both high school students and adults. The only prerequisite is the ability to type.
The Hadley School for the Blind also offers basic Internet education and word processing courses. Founded in 1920, Hadley is the largest distance educator for the visually impaired. The school offers 100 tuition-free courses to eligible students. Courses are available to students who are visually impaired, family members, and professionals.
