Drug Appears Effective with Type 2 Diabetes
Posted April 12th, 2007Reuters news service has reported, based on an article in the New England Journal of Medicine, that a drug usually used to treat arthritis may be helpful to people with type 2 diabetes. The drug, anakinra, appears to protect beta-cells from glucose-induced impairment. The results of the study by Dr. Marc Y. Donath of the University Hospital in Zurich Switzerland appear in this week’s New England Journal of Medicine.
