New Report to Highlight Disability Employment Awareness Month
Posted September 20th, 2007National Disability Employment Awareness Month will be highlighted by the release of the latest report from the National Council on Disability (NCD) titled Empowerment for Americans with Disabilities: Breaking Barriers to Careers and Full Employment. The report will be released at a news conference and panel discussion in Washington on October 1.
Each October is designated by the US Congress as National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The NCD is an independent federal agency composed of 15 members appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the US Senate. The Council’s purpose is to provide advice to the President, Congress, and executive branch agencies to promote policies and programs that guarantee equal opportunity for all individuals with disabilities. The goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve economic self-sufficiency, independent living, and inclusion and integration into all aspects of society.
The news conference and panel will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. in the House Committee on Administration Hearing Room, 1309 Longworth House Office Building, Independence and New Jersey Avenues, SE, Washington, DC.
