Transition to Independence Career Fair

Posted January 31st, 2008

The 2008 Transition to Independence Career Fair will be held February 21 in Baltimore, Maryland. At the fair, blind students can attend workshops specifically designed to equip and prepare them for future careers and educational opportunities.

Here is a sample of workshops for students:

First Impressions—preparing for interviews

Earning that First Paycheck—getting the early work experience in preparation for future careers

Preparing for Campus Life—this workshop is led by blind college students. They will discuss the things that they wish they had known about college and campus life—such as how to handle the social aspect of college and how to deal with disability services.

Parents and teachers can attend workshops specifically for them, or they can attend the student workshops with their students.
