Developmental Milestones
Posted January 31st, 2008"Many children with behavioral or developmental disabilities are missing vital opportunities for early detection and intervention," reports the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. According to this US government agency, children from birth to 5 years "should reach milestones" in specific aspects of their lives. Parents can track their child’s developmental milestones in five areas—social and emotional, cognitive, language, movement, and hand and finger skills at the CDC operated Act Early website.
The site also provides a "developmental health watch" that helps alert parents to warning signs in their child’s development in addition to information on autism spectrum disorders, vision loss, and intellectual disability, among others.
