Audio Music Lessons for the Blind

Posted February 7th, 2008

Bill Brown offers music courses for the blind in audio format for a variety of instruments including banjo, flute, piano, and penny whistle.

These audio lessons are available on cassette and CD and are also downloadable as MP3 files.

The lessons teach the student how to play by ear. "Intro" courses allow beginners to learn Bill Brown’s teaching method and prepare them for the next "by ear" lessons. For example, the Intro to the Piano course teaches basic chords and rhythm patterns, and the names of the notes. The Piano Course 2 teaches the principles of playing piano by ear, new scales and chords, and new songs to play with the scales and chords.

The music courses are available through the National Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (http://www.loc.gov/nls/).

You may purchase both "Intro" courses and the "by ear" courses from Mr. Brown’s website, www.musicfortheblind.com/.
