Music and Stroke Recovery

Listening to music may benefit people who have suffered a stroke, according to a recent article by the BBC. A research team compared patients who listened to music a few hours daily with those who listened to audio books or who did not listen to music or audio books.

One finding was that verbal memory improved by 60% for the music-listeners, after three months. Memory improved 18% to the participants listening to audio books and 29% for the participants not listening to music or audio books.
