American Foundation for the Blind Issues Online Gift List

Posted December 2nd, 2008

For many individuals, the passage of Thanksgiving signals the beginning of the Christmas rush. And while the month before Christmas is hectic simply because it’s the month before Christmas, for those who have loved ones with vision loss, gift shopping can be an additional challenge. But instead of being forced to settle for less accessible gifts, holiday shoppers can now get gift ideas online.

The American Foundation for the Blind announced on November 21 that it “released a Holiday Guide that contains gift ideas for game lovers, craft enthusiasts, movie buffs, bookworms, shoppers, geeks, and more.” The online list of gifts includes everything from cell phones with large buttons to talking measuring tapes. And while the items cannot be purchased via the site, it provides a starting point before holiday shoppers head to the mall.

The Holiday Guide site also gives holiday travel tips for those with vision loss as well as ways to make one’s home safer for visually impaired guests.
