“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…to him be glory.” Ephesians 3:20, 21 (NIV)

As I continue my quest to understand prayer, I learned more as I read Paul’s prayer for the people in Ephesus.

Paul prays:

♦ that out of God’s glorious riches He might strengthen the "saints" in Ephesus with power through the Holy Spirit in their inner being (3:16).

♦ that Christ might dwell in their hearts through faith (3:17).

♦ that they be "rooted and established in love" (3:17).

♦ that they might have power "together with all the saints" (3:18).

In order:

♦ that they might grasp how wide, long, high, and deep is the love of Christ (3:18).

♦ that they might know this "love that surpasses knowledge" (3:19).

♦ that they might be "filled to the measure of all the fullness of God" (3:19).

This is a vision of God that is so big it knocks my socks off! And after being amazed by God and His goodness, we respond by building up the unity of believers, in love, as we serve Him and  our neighbor.
